The Republic Day 2026 celebrations at the university commenced at 8:30 a.m. with the ceremonial flag unfurling, accompanied by a dignified rendition of the National Anthem by the NU Music Society, Verismo. The atmosphere was patriotic and reflective as students and faculty gathered to honour the significance of the day. This was followed by an address from the President, Dr. Prakash Gopalan, who spoke about constitutional values, national progress, and the role of young citizens in shaping India’s future.
The cultural programme opened with a poetic presentation by Kavishala, setting a thoughtful tone with expressive literary performance. Shortly after, NU Impetus presented a solo dance showcasing artistic precision and cultural vibrancy. The NU Vice Captain, Manjeet Singh then delivered a brief address emphasising unity, discipline, and student leadership. Musical performances by NU Verismo added depth to the celebrations, with soulful solo pieces that resonated with the audience.
This was complemented by articulate elocution sessions organised by DebSoc, bringing forward powerful reflections on patriotism, civic responsibility, and youth voice. Kavishala returned with an engaging jugalbandi, blending rhythm and spoken word, followed by a dynamic group dance performance by NU Impetus that added energy and colour to the morning. Rangmanch NU then presented a compelling Nukkad Natak, using street theatre to shed light on social issues and the need for active citizenship, aligning strongly with the spirit of Republic Day.
As the cultural segment concluded, awards were distributed to recognise outstanding achievements across student activities. NU staff who work diligently to keep the campus clean and green were recognized for the excellent service rendered. The NU Captain, Vasvi Nehra addressed the gathering, reinforcing the values of leadership, collaboration, and personal integrity.
