The Teaching Learning Symposium (TLS–2026) was successfully organized by NIIT University with the aim of promoting academic interaction between school teachers and faculty members. The event focused on sharing teaching experiences, understanding modern teaching practices, and exploring the role of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and Agentic AI in education. The symposium was conducted over two days and included workshops, presentations, and campus activities.
The first day of the event began with Prof Prakash Gopalan, President, NU setting the context. During both days teachers shared their best practices using technology. They discussed their classroom practices, challenges in teaching, and methods used to enhance student learning. This helped create a professional and collaborative environment. The presentations reflected different classroom approaches and highlighted the growing interest in technology-supported education.
Three workshops were conducted across the two days. A workshop on Agentic AI and Generative AI was conducted by Prof Debashis Sengupta, CSE Area Director. The session introduced teachers to the basic concepts of AI and its application in teaching and learning. Prof Sengupta explained how AI tools can assist teachers in lesson planning, assessment, and content creation. Ms. Susmita Pruthi, Learning Consultant, NIIT Ltd conducted a workshop on creating meaningful learning experiences using GenAI and shared important insights on the role of teachers in the age of Generative AI. She emphasized that teachers should stop competing with what Generative AI can do and instead focus on guiding students toward meaningful learning, creativity, and critical thinking. Prof Vijay Mandke, Mentor Professor, ET Area conducted a session on NU’s VNEIM Model (Value Networked Education Institution Model)and invited schools to participate in it
On the second day, the teachers participated in a tree plantation activity, which promoted environmental awareness and social responsibility. After the plantation drive, a short trek was organized, providing participants with an opportunity to relax and interact informally as well as imbibe the clean and green NU campus environment.
The event concluded with a talk by Prof Parimal Mandke, Vice President, NU. It was followed by certification distribution. Overall, TLS 2026 was an enriching academic event that successfully combined learning, experience sharing, and community engagement.
