Advanced Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory established in NU in partnership with Industry.AI

The inauguration was graced by the university’s top leadership, including Mr R S Pawar, Founder of NIIT University; Prof Prakash Gopalan, President, and Prof Parimal Mandke, Vice President. Their collective presence underscored the institution’s strategic commitment to fostering cutting-edge technological infrastructure and deepening industry-academia collaboration.

The new research laboratory is designed to serve as a high-performance computing hub for Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Edge AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI and data-intensive research. At its core are the three YodaEdge devices, each capable of supporting ten concurrent users, thereby enabling hands-on access for up to thirty students, faculty members, and research scholars simultaneously. This setup creates a scalable, collaborative environment where users can experiment with modern AI frameworks, development tools, and enterprise-grade deployment methodologies.

The facility will support a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary applications, including Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, Intelligent IoT Systems, Predictive Analytics, and Smart Healthcare solutions. Beyond regular coursework and research, the laboratory is envisioned as a venue for faculty development programs, technical workshops, hackathons, industry interaction programs, and startup incubation activities.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the transformative potential of the partnership. The establishment of the Advanced AI Research Lab aligns with NIIT University’s broader vision of promoting innovation, research excellence, and technology-enabled learning. By exposing students to enterprise-class AI hardware and methodologies, the initiative aims to significantly enhance their technical proficiency, research capabilities, and employability in an increasingly AI-driven global economy.

The event marks a milestone in NIIT University’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements, ensuring that its students and researchers remain competitive in both academic pursuits and professional careers in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
