NIIT University celebrates Van Mahotsav

Van Mahotsav 2026, an annual community event dedicated to inculcating environmental sensitivity in both NU and neighbouring communities, was celebrated on Sunday July 26, 2026 on campus at North-East point.

The event witnessed active participation from the neighborhood villages.  There was a cultural show in which both NU students and people from nearby villages sang songs enthusing everyone to actively care for nature by planting trees.  This was followed by a tree planting drive.  A key message communicated was that it was not just enough to plant trees but the trees also need to be cared for by timely watering and manuring.  The event ended with a community lunch served by NU students.

With the objective of promoting environmental conservation and encouraging sustainable development, NIIT University, Neemrana, observes every year during the month of July, when the South-West Monsoon provides favourable conditions for afforestation across many parts of India.

The programme commenced at 11:30 a.m. with Ganesh Vandana and Saraswati Vandana, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests. Students presented vibrant cultural performances and inspiring acts highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, biodiversity, and sustainable living which were highly appreciated by the audience.

A large-scale tree plantation drive was carried out during the event. Many participants planted saplings in honour of their mothers, reaffirming their commitment to protecting nature and preserving the environment.

The programme was graced by Prof. Prakash Gopalan, Major General A K Singh along with students, faculty members, staff, and University officials.

Several eminent personalities from the local administration and the community also attended the event, including Mr Surendra Yadav SHO Neemrana, Mr Mool Chand Gurjar, Mr. Ummed Bhaya, Educationist Mr Raj Singh Chauhan, Mr Charan Singh and Mr Deepak Patel.

The programme continued from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., witnessing the enthusiastic participation of more than 1,200 people. Students, faculty members, staff, government officials, and members of the local community joined hands to promote the message of environmental conservation through tree plantation.

Thereafter, all dignitaries, participants, students, faculty members, staff, and guests shared a Van Bhoj (community lunch), fostering a spirit of unity, togetherness, and environmental responsibility.

Through this celebration of Van Mahotsav, NIIT University once again reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, biodiversity conservation, and community engagement.
