NIIT University celebrates Independence Day 2026
The Independence Day 2026 celebration at the NIIT University commenced at 8:30 AM with the unfurling of the National Flag by Prof Prakash Gopalan, President, NU and Dean Student Affairs, Maj Gen A. K. Singh (Retd.). It was accompanied by National Anthem sung together by all the faculty, staff and students. It was followed by an inspirational address delivered by Prof Gopalan who spoke about the foundational values of national independence, the responsibilities of academic institutions in driving social progress, and the crucial role that student leaders and scholars play in shaping the nation’s future.
In this atmosphere of patriotism, cultural programs designed to showcase student talent across various artistic disciplines followed.
The poetry society, NU Kavishala, presented an evocative poetry recitation celebrating the historical struggles and ideals of freedom. This was succeeded by a Bharatnatyam dance, a solo dance performance by Aastha Rastogi from the dance club, NU Impetus, which blended classical aesthetics with patriotic themes. Representing the student council, NU University Captain, Vasvi Nehra delivered an address, articulating the student body’s commitment to leadership, civic responsibility, and institutional integrity.
The musical showcase followed with a solo vocal performance by Yash Kaushik from NU Verismo, after which Usha Vishwakarma took the stage to present a formal elocution on contemporary national service. The cultural segment concluded with a very articulate poetic recital by Kavya Parnami representing NU Kavishala.
The celebration included the annual award ceremony, which recognized and felicitated NU housekeeping staff. The recognition ceremony was followed by a vibrant group dance choreographed and presented by NU Impetus, re-energizing the audience. Later, University Vice Captain, Manjeet Purohit addressed the gathering, reinforcing the collective vision of student governance and mutual support within the campus community. A solo dance recital by Saniya Bhatia added further artistic depth to the proceedings, paving the way for the day’s theatre presentation.
The theatre society, Rangmanch NU, performed a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak centered on civic consciousness, ethical awareness, and social accountability. The dramatic performance resonated strongly with the audience, transitioning naturally into a stirring group vocal rendition by the music club, NU Verismo.
The formal gathering drew to a close with the customary distribution of traditional sweets among all participants, attendees, and dignitaries, marking the successful and harmonious completion of the Independence Day 2026 celebrations.
